***I said, Force Awakens Spoilers ahead!****

From the moment I saw and heard Daisy Ridley’s Rey in The Force Awakens, I had two thoughts:

lukedad.jpg

1. She’s Luke’s daughter. Never mind all that nonsense about her possibly being Han and Leia’s secret other child and Kylo’s twin;

a) That’s too much of a Luke and Leia copy for me to swallow.

b) With what happened to Han, no way would Leia just keep up the pretense when she was finally reunited with Rey.

c) Her piloting skills, natural Force abilities, the foreshadowing with Luke’s lightsaber, and that Rey was the person to return it to him are enough to convince me.

d) Rey has a British accent, and there’s a reason for that. HER MOTHER WILL BE A BRITISH ACTRESS!

2. She looks and sounds exactly like a young Hayley Atwell.

I said as much as soon as I got back home and commented on
Lord Castleton’s reactions post:

Clearly I’m not alone in my thoughts, because just the other day someone else mentioned Ridley’s resemblance to Atwell, thus a campaign is born! Look at these two, they are meant to play mother and daughter.

Yes, it’s true the actresses are only ten years apart (both born in April), but Ridley clearly looks and can play younger than 23, and make-up can age Atwell a little.

GUYS, YOU KNOW THIS IS PERFECT CASTING, THEY EVEN TEE-HEE THE SAME.

So please, join my campaign and help bring Hayley Atwell to the Star Wars universe, where she belongs. We need a hashtag that won’t spoil people (someone needs to tell me how long before we’re allowed to openly discuss Rey’s parentage?), something like #BRINGHAYLEYTOSTARWARS, or #ATWELLINEPISODEVIII. Shall we hit up @rianjohnson and @colintrevorrow on Twitter? Does anyone have Hayley’s home number so we can convince her to come back to social media? I just know she’ll want to do this.

Cindy Davis, (Twitter) is only slightly obsessed.
