As of today, just about every male actor between the ages of sixteen and thirty-four has auditioned to play young Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars spinoff movie. According to THR, at least 2500 people have already tried out. Everyone from Miles Teller, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ed Westwick to The Walking Dead’s Chandler Riggs and Mr. Robot’s Rami Malek have answered the open call for the untitled film that’s said to be Lawrence Kasdan’s final entry in the Star Wars universe. Speaking with the LA Times, Kasdan discussed the fun of writing for Solo before we knew him as played by Harrison Ford.

“… he’s younger in this [spinoff] movie and that’s fun because you have to imagine him 10 years earlier in his early 20s. What was he like before he hardened up? Before he had some setbacks? Before he put on this cynical coat? What got him there?”

Look, I can save everyone a lot of time, effort and money. There’s no need for a worldwide hunt for the next big thing. The perfect young Han already has good experience, the right look and he’s exactly the age to play our favorite scavenger as a 20-something.

You know him from Jeff Nichols’ Mud where at 16, he held his own beside Matthew McConaughey.

You know him from Justified’s fifth season where he fell in perfectly between Olyphant and those nasty Crowes.

And if you watched Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, you’ll recognize him as Aris.

Jacob Lofland is a gifted natural who’s been in the business just enough to prove himself, but he hasn’t been overexposed. To the general population, he’s still somewhat undiscovered. At nineteen, Lofland has the maturity and confidence to carry off the Solo swagger, and he looks enough like Ford we’d have no trouble seeing him in the role.
