'Hamilton's America' Wasn't Enough? Here's Where You Can See the Show's Stars Next

If you’re a Hamilton fan, you’re probably already charting the course of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s career. You probably know that you’ll be able to hear his work in Disney’s upcoming Moana, and that you’ll see and hear him in the new Mary Poppins. But if you spent the weekend watching the spectacular PBS documentary Hamilton’s America, you might be wondering where you can see the rest of the musical’s incredible cast outside of Broadway. Well, here you go.

Leslie Odom, Jr. (Aaron Burr)

If you want to go back and watch some classic Leslie Odom Jr., you can check out Smash, or Law & Order: SVU, or Person of Interest. He may not be all that active in the near future, though, because aside from a jazz album he just released, he’s probably a little busy having just announced his soon-to-be baby.

Phillipa Soo (Eliza Schuyler)

—Soo will be joining Lin-Manuel Miranda in Disney’s Moana, and also taking on the French pixie dream girl title role in the new stage play version of Amélie in Los Angeles before moving to Broadway.

Renée Elise Goldsberry (Angelica Schuyler)

First of all, check out Angelica’s fantastic rocking of the vote with Miranda to the tune of “10 Duel Commandments.”

You can go back and watch her on The Good Wife and One Life to Live, but next up, Angelica’s taking on the ultra-sci-fi name of Quellcrist Falconer in Netflix’s upcoming Altered Carbon.

Set in the 25th century and based on Richard Morgan’s 2002 novel of the same name, the series explores what happens when the human mind becomes digitized and the soul is transferable from one body to another. Kinnaman plays Takeshi Kovacs, an ex-elite interstellar warrior known as an Envoy who has been imprisoned for 500 years and is downloaded into a future he had tried to stop. If he can solve a single murder in a world where technology has made death nearly obsolete, he will get a chance at a new life on Earth.

Goldsberry will play the role of Quellcrist Falconer, a revolutionary and leader of the rebellion against the Protectorate. She is a master strategist, as well as the love of Kovacs’ life.

Daveed Diggs (Marquis de Lafayette / Thomas Jefferson)

If you want to see Diggs continue the French affectations, he’s in the middle of an arc on Black-ish, playing Bow’s insufferably Francophilic brother. If you miss his rapping, finish watching The Get Down on Netflix.

Next up, he’ll be in Andy Samberg’s next HBO sports mockumentary, Tour de Pharmacy, and Wonder, a Julia Roberts/Jacob Tremblay movie that may a well be titled Oscar Bait: The Movie.

He’s also in an experimental hip-hop band called Clipping.

Christopher Jackson (George Washington)

Jackson is still performing with the Broadway cast of Hamilton through November 13th, but he’s also currently starring in CBS’ (so no one would blame you if you hadn’t been aware) Bull. He’ll also be in— or at least on the soundtrack of— Moana, because LMM knows how to take care of his own.

Jonathan Groff (King George III)

Groff played Kristoff in Frozen before taking over the Broadway run of Hamilton, which has since cycled through several Georges. Groff came back to shoot the documentary performance, but hasn’t been in the show for quite some times. If you need more Groff in your life, go back and watch Glee or Looking, or go forward to next year when David Fincher’s Mindhunter debuts on Netflix.

Jasmine Cephas Jones (Peggy Schuyler / Maria Reynolds)

The original Peggy is still in the show on Broadway. So if you manage to get tickets, you can still see her there. Which is more than we can say for her sold-out solo shows in New York.

Anthony Ramos (John Laurens / Philip Hamilton)

Sorry to make you feel inadequate, but this guy isn’t even 25 and you have to admire him. He’s in Hamilton, after all. He’ll be leaving the show next month, though, and joining Spike Lee’s Netflix series She’s Gotta Have It, playing Mars Blackmon, the role originated by Lee in the original movie.

Okieriete Onaodowan (Hercules Mulligan / James Madison)

Onaodowan seems to be a total theatre guy, meaning there isn’t much by way of where those of us outside of New York can see him (especially since he’s still in the Hamilton cast, with no news of leaving.)

So instead, here are two fun facts for you. Number one: he goes by the nickname Oak. Awesome and adorable. Number two: While Madison was 5’4”, Oak has been called a “gentle giant” in profiles and interviews. I guess to embody Hercules Mulligan, you have to have a presence large enough to justify the Instagram handle “Oak Smash.”
