Until Kurt Cobain came along and saved us from ourselves, glam metal dominated the era in which I grew up, and before my wife beat it out of me, I had a nasty affection for it. I grew up in a bumblefuck town in backwoods Arkansas, so I can’t be held accountable for my early-life musical tastes. This was the days before there was much of an Internet, so all we had to keep ourselves entertained was MTV and scrambled porn channels. We were young. We didn’t know any better. We gravitated toward whatever was loudest, and had the most attractive women. It’s really hot in Arkansas; it does things to your brain.

But with Rock of Ages coming out today (review forthcoming), I thought I’d take a look back at some of my formative crushes and see what became of them (unfortunately, there is no evidence that Susia Hatton — from Poison’s “Fallen Angel” video — still exists). For the most part, they’re doing all right. Bobbi Brown outlived her ex-husband, Lillian Muller is a model for AARP (seriously), and Stephanie Seymour, well, she really loves her son. Tawny Kitaen? Maybe not so much.

Anyway, here’s recent images of five female glam metal music video stars.

“Here I Go Again,” Tawny Kitaen (50), pictured on “Celebrity Rehab.”

“Cherry Pie,” Bobbie Brown (42)

“Round and Round,” Milton Berle (Died in 2002)

“Hot for Teacher, Lillian Muller (60)
