Do you remember waaaaay back in 2000 when Helen Hunt was in four films in one year? (What Women Want, Cast Away, Pay It Forward, and Dr T and the Women) Or in 2004 when Jude Law appeared in six? (Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Aviator, Closer, Alfie, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow and I Heart Huckabees) I certainly remember. There was a bloody hue and cry. A hubbub. General pandemonium. To appear in that many films seemed sort of, well, unseemly. The word “overexposed” gets flung about. It took Jude a few years to recover and Helen, well, I’m not certain she ever will. The truly big, established stars, the First Namers (Angie, Tom, Crazy Tom, Denzel, Julia, and Brad) only do one or two movies a year. Three at most. To do any more would be…uncivilized. But if you’re not there yet, if you still remember the days of cheap wine and ramen, then the temptation to say yes to everything must be overwhelming. Newly branded “It Girl” Gemma Arteton appeared in nine films between 2009-2010 alone. But Miss Arteton has calmed down a bit. She’s not even on this list. This list is comprised of actors most in danger of wearing out their welcome over the next few years. I’ve included all theatrical releases (yes even voice work) listed on IMDB starting with this year and continuing into 2014. They’re nice faces. Pretty faces. I wonder which one you’ll get sick of first.
