“Community” fans only had a few short, precious days to bask in the afterglow of the fantastic 90-minute season three finale, with the promise of a season four renewal, before NBC rained dead batteries down upon our puppy parade by announcing that showrunner and creator Dan Harmon was unceremoniously shitcanned. In light of the relative suddenness, it’s only natural that the show’s most rabid fans (i.e., all of them) would find the removal of its central vision and voice a most disturbing and frustrating development. This is especially true when the decision makes no sense in terms of moving “Community” to Friday nights, where its loyal audience surely would have followed, as well as possibly picking up those who liked the show but chose to watch “The Big Bang Theory” (for personal reasons that we’ll try not to judge too harshly) on Thursdays, but now the series’ new staff will have to court the hardcore fans who may no longer be thrilled at the idea of three more seasons and a movie without Harmon Assuming, of course, they don’t abandon all pretense and completely tweak the show to focus heavily on Chevy Chase’s brand of humor.

For all these reasons it is perfectly understandable, even reasonable, if you are a fan of “Community” and had any of the following reactions to Dan Harmon’s firing…

If you’re still having difficulty processing your emotions, please allow Britta Perry, psych major, to be your grief counselor:

Rob Payne also writes the comic The Unstoppable Force, tweets on the Twitter @RobOfWar, and his wares can be purchased here and here (if you’re into that sort of thing). He tried to get the clips to fit into the rigid structure of the five stages of grief, but decided “acceptance” is still too far down the road.
