“Community” fans only had a few short, precious hours to sulk in the mourning glow of the frustrating season four finale, with the promise of a season five renewal, before rumors began to rain down from the Internet like paint from fire sprinklers over a puppy parade that fired showrunner and creator Dan Harmon could be unceremoniously re-hired by NBC. In light of the relative suddenness, it was only natural that the show’s most bruised fans would find the return of the series’ central vision and voice a much needed but too-good-to-be-true development. This was especially true before the Harmontown Mayor let something slip during a recent live show, where so much of his loyal audience receives a great deal of their “Community”-related news; so it makes a perfect sort of sense that Harmon’s official-ish announcement would happen on the fandom’s second favorite social network. Of course, one only has to look at “Family Guy” or “Futurama” to see that having the same lead creative doesn’t necessarily equate a return to the glory days, though it’s definitely promising. Then again, the return of writer Chris McKenna, who originally left the show in solidarity with his boss, might be just as significant as Harmon himself.

For all these reasons, if you’re a fan of “Community” who’s been dirt-roaded in the past, it’s perfectly reasonable to act like this on the outside right now:

Even if on the inside we’re reacting like this:

Now let Sting and the Police play us out…
