Matching Up the Gilmore Girls’ Boyfriends

I rewatch shows a lot, and this includes Gilmore Girls. It’s a comfort thing, and Stars Hollow feels like my second home. As I mentioned before in a previous post, my husband finally finished watching all seven seasons of the show. It was his first time, it was probably my fifth or sixth time watching the entire thing. It took me that many times to realize that Rory’s life is Lorelai’s life, just 16 years later. Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino parallels the characters’ lives and mannerism so perfectly as they both grow. This even applies to their love lives. When I realized the trend, the show took on a whole ‘nother meaning for me. So I decided to match up Lorelei’s boyfriends to Rory’s boyfriends, and voila, here’s what I have:

5. Lorelai: Beau Belleville, Rory: Marty (the poor boy doesn’t even have a last name)

The men who want the Gilmore girls, but don’t know how to go about it.

4. Lorelai: Jason Stiles, Rory: Tristan DuGrey

Pompous guys who are used to getting what they want when they want it. When they don’t, they resort to pouting.

3. Lorelai: Max Medina, Rory: Dean Forester

Perfectly nice, boring guys. They’re embedded in the Gilmore girls’ world (Chilton, Stars Hollow), so it’s hard to avoid the awkward run-in.

2. Lorelai: Christopher Hayden, Rory: Logan Huntzberger

Another pair of privileged men, but with a bad boy twist. They rebel against their upbringings, but eventually settle down. These are the guys the Gilmore girls believe they should settle with but it just doesn’t set right when the next two gentlemen exist…

1. Lorelai: Luke Danes, Rory: Jess Mariano

The perfect match for the Gilmore Girls. They know the duo well. Luke makes Lorelei’s coffee without needing to be asked. Jess and Rory could talk about literature and music for hours and hours. The Gilmore girls and the Danes boys were all meant to be.

Nadia Chaudhury wishes her husband made her coffee in the morning, ahem.
