News of my favorite girl crush has been unusually quiet ever since she up and married that Rocknrolla dude…

did you even know she was pregnant again? So yeah, the newlywed-let’s make a baby business has kept her busy, but she’s actually been working on a few films you may or may not have heard about:

Labor Day (January 31, 2014)

Telluride reviews have been popping up all weekend and frankly, the news on this “thriller” isn’t great—though its actors don’t seem to be at fault. Winslet plays Adele, an agoraphobic single mother kidnapped (along with her son) by an escaped criminal (Josh Brolin); Clark Gregg plays Adele’s ex-husband. Doesn’t sound like a bomb, but The Playlist likens Jason Reitman’s script to a Nicholas Sparks tale; certain death by keyboard stroke if I ever read it.

A Little Chaos (2014)

But never fear; there’s a period drama on the horizon! Our Kate wears a fancy frock like nobody’s business, and this time she’s being directed by an old friend: Alan Rickman (who also stars). Winslet plays a gardener competing with a handsome boy gardener (Rust and Bone’s Matthias Schoenaerts) to design a fountain at Versailles. I predict plenty of afternoon delight; fussy clothes flying across the late afternoon meadow.. A Little Chaos also stars Helen McCrory, Stanley Tucci, Steven Waddington and Pauline Moran.

Divergent (March 21, 2014)

Here’s the first trailer for Divergent, directed by Neil Burger (Limitless, The Illusionist, The Lucky Ones) starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Maggie Q, Jai Courtney, Zoë Kravitz and Ansel Elgort. Winslet stars as “Erudite” group leader Jeanine Matthews in this adaptation of Veronica Roth’s futuristic tale of a new society where humanity is divided up and classified by virtue. The story centers on young Beatrice (Woodley) who doesn’t fit into any one group, which puts her life in danger—and you thought being a freak or geek was bad when you were in school…

The Dressmaker (2015)

Finally, Winslet will co-star with the brilliant Judy Davis in an adaptation of Rosalie Ham’s revenge drama/comedy, directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse (Proof, How to Make an American Quilt). The Dressmaker follows Myrtle’s (Winslet) return to her Australian outback home after years in Europe, bent on confronting her past and making things right…in her own way. Davis plays Myrtle’s mother, Molly. Scriptwriter, Jocelyn Moorhouse calls it “Unforgiven with a sewing machine;” count me in.
