Leslie Knope’s struggles to find a replacement best friend who can match up to the sun goddess level of Ann Perkins in last night’s Parks and Recreation made me think about how much I miss my friends. Don’t worry, it’s not nearly as depressing as it sounds; none of them died or, even worse, live in Michigan. Rather, I recently moved 1,800 miles away from home, from Brooklyn to Austin (because I am every twentysomething) and I understand what Leslie’s going through—it’s hard not having my go-to person for talks minor, major, and Backstreet Boys>’N Sync. Here are other best female friends that Leslie and I can envy together:
Abbi & Ilana, Broad City
The best of New York City friends video chat every night, even when their one-night-stands haven’t stood and left yet.
Taystee & Poussey, Orange is the New Black
Their conversations are what best friend dreams are made of.
Tessa & Lisa, Suburgatory
High school friendships require putting up with a lot of change, like when you date your BFF’s brother, or when said BFF hangs out with your ex-boyfriend’s girlfriend. But it’s all worth it to have someone who hates being a teenager trapped in suburbia as much as you do.
Jess & Cece, New Girl
Jess’ flightiness and spontaneity pairs well with CeCe’s sophistication and rationality.
Lily & Robin, How I Met Your Mother
The friends that drink together stick together.
