Hey, do you like comedy? Me, too. Do you want some new comedy to tide you over this month? Of course you do. Here are five comedians Pajiba thinks you should know about in October. Because it’s like, spooky how funny they are. Or something. Just read the list.

Kevin Camia

Kevin Camia is your real chill friend that sits in the corner of the room and makes you angry about how effortlessly funny he is.

He’s been seen on Comedy Central, been featured in Esquire Magazine, and his album Kindness was a Top 10 of the year on itunes.

Disoriented Comedy

The first ever nationally touring group showcasing Asian American female-identified comedians is not only selling out theatres across the country and endorsed by Margaret Cho, they were also kind enough not to name themselves ASIAN WOMEN OF COMEDY. No more ‘…OF COMEDY’ groups, comedians. No more.

Much like the tour being a response to lack of diversity on comedy club stages, the trio of Atsuko Okatsuka, Jenny Yang, and Yola Lu recently ran the first annual Comedy Comedy Festival, which featured appearances by Margaret Cho, Gilmore Girls’ Keiko Agena, and a diversity showcase for straight white male comedians. Because they need the help, you know?

Marcella Arguello

Marcella is probably one of the hardest working stand up comedians in the country and it is dumb that she is not a household name. Dumb. She’s completely fearless on stage, and her ability to riff with audience and hecklers make those ‘best of comedians taking down hecklers!’ Youtube videos look at boring as the person making them.

Rye Silverman

If you’re a fan of Modcloth, you’re familiar with Rye Silverman, who was featured as a #fashiontruth girl on their website. The first transgender performer at Portland’s All Jane No Dick Comedy Festival, Rye is one of the most original voices in up and coming comedy today.

Her album, Intimate Apparel, claimed a #1 best seller spot on Amazon earlier in the year, and for good reason- it transitions from dry and biting to playful to extraordinarily intimate with an ease that few comedians are able to grasp.

Brandie Posey

Do you love the band Reel Big Fish but sometimes wish their music could morph into a super funny woman that would probably also beat the shit out of bullies on your behalf, like Weird Science but with 100% more blue pompadour? I have fantastic news for you.

Brandie Posey is in an almost constant state of touring the country, and recently opened for Against Me!. Her podcast Lady To Lady is a highlight on the MaximumFun network, and her show Picture This, which pairs stand up comedians with cartoonists drawing on a screen behind them, can be seen at comedy festivals across the country. Brandie recently recorded her first album, and is pretty much set to be the biggest thing in the world. Get on the train first. It’s very punk rock of you.
