The Biggest Emmy Snubs of All Time

With the Emmy’s airing this Sunday night (will “Mad Men” be airing a new episode, knowing that the show will essentially be competing against itself, since it will likely sweep the ceremy?), I had planned on doing my own list of the biggest all-time Emmy Snubs today. But, Entertainment Weekly put out their own list this week, so I’ll wait until next year to compile my own.

Below is EW’s, and you can go over there if you’d like to see the accompanying slideshow. It’s not a bad list, though I might question the obvious Buffy-baiting, where it not only includes Sarah Michelle Gellar (the show’s weak link, by most accounts) and the placement of the show at number three. I’d also question the placement of “The Wire” at number 11. That deserves top spot, as it is unquestionably the biggest Emmy snub of all time (and I’d probably put “Sports Night” in the top five). I also wouldn’t have thought much of the snubs of Katey Sagal and Ed O’Neil in “Married … with Children,” at the time, but seeing their work since, you really do appreciate how good they were in the sitcom. Otherwise, “America’s Top Model” and Heather Locklear seem … out of place. There’s probably a few others I’d have sneaked in there (“Deadwood,” for instance).

Here’s the list. Quibble away.
