Sunday, Sunday…Important Stuff day.

5. Someone at Cannes Fired Shots Near Christoph Waltz.

Saturday, as my man was being interviewed by French news program “Le Grand Journal” in front of a live audience, shots rang out…mayhem ensued. Waltz was quickly evacuated, the audience ran in all directions; then the perpetrator was quickly caught and apprehended. Turns out the suspect’s weapon was loaded with blanks—whew—and no one was injured.

The Day Before, Up to a Million Dollars Worth of Chopard Jewels Were Stolen from a Nearby Hotel Room.

Meanwhile, a representative of Swiss jeweler Chopard had locked away a few expensive baubles in a hotel room safe, which thieves removed (in its entirety) from the wall at approximately 5 a.m.—the room was vacant at the time. Though several actresses appearing at the film festival had been decked out in Chopard, the company says those pieces were not part of the stolen collection.

4. George R. R. Martin Is Too Busy Writing Movie Reviews to Write The Winds of Winter.

This guy will do anything to get out of writing the next A Song of Ice and Fire installment. (I kid, I kid.) But seriously, it does seem like Martin has a lot of side projects—including movie blogger. And among his reasons for loving Baz Luhrman’s The Great Gatsby, is the fact that Fitzgerald’s own words are used in voiceovers, and DiCaprio’s performance. So, you know, maybe go read Feast again; I hear a lot of people find that one slow-going.

3. Nick Murphy’s Blood Trailer Debuted.

The Awakening director returns with this psychological thriller based on Bill Gallagher’s BBC series, “Conviction.” Paul Bettany and Stephen Graham are police officers and brothers; their father (Brian Cox) is a former chief, suffering dementia. While investigating a murder, the brothers lose sight of their own morals and, as you can guess, things go downhill from there. Mark Strong is a senior detective who becomes suspicious of his fellow officers; Ben Crompton (“Game of Thrones,” Kill List) also stars. Blood premieres in the UK May 13th.

2. Our Summer of Science Fiction Marched on with the Europa Report Trailer.

Sebastin Cordero’s (Pescador, Rage, Chronicles) space horror features astronauts investigating possible life on Jupiter’s moon—clearly a bad idea. District 9 and Elysium veteran, Sharlto Copley, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series’ Michael Nyqvist star, alongside Daniel Wu, Isiah Whitlock Jr. and Christian Camargo. Europa Report hits theaters June 27, 2013.

1. Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver Were Confirmed as Avengers 2 Characters.

As speculated, the brother-sister comic twins and Magneto offspring will appear in the next Whedon helmed Avengers film. Speaking to IGN, Whedon said “You know, they had a rough beginning. They’re interesting to me because they sort of represent the part of the world that wouldn’t necessarily agree with The Avengers. So they’re not there to make things easier. I’m not putting any characters in the movie that will make things easier.” Additionally, when the director was questioned about whether Iron Man would be involved with Avengers 2, ***Iron Man 3 spoilers ahead, swipe to reveal: “Well, I feel like in Iron Man 3, even though he said, ‘I’ve changed’—he blew up his remote suits, but I don’t think anybody thinks he doesn’t have one anymore. The question is, if The Avengers are called, does he show up? And the answer is, ‘Yes!’”
