6. “The Angels Take Manhattan” Made Me Cry Like a Baby (*No Spoilers).

Let’s just get that out of the way. Moffat unexpectedly broke my cold, stony heart. You can commiserate in the comments, but please—don’t go spoileriffic down there. Do it in C. Rob’s sure-to-be-heartwarming column, Monday.

5. The Hollywood Reporter Went Deeper into the Cruise/Miscavige “Bromance.”

Carrying on with Vanity Fair’s Scientology exposé, THR spoke with various ex-Scientologists about the hold chairman David Miscavige may have over Tom Cruise. If all the stuff I’ve been reading out there is true, I almost feel sorry for the guy. Persistant rumors have it that Cruise has allegedly confessed homosexual affairs—as well as problems he had with Nicole Kidman and/or their children—and that Miscavige has used those secrets to keep Cruise in the organization, and to privately mock the actor. As much as both Scientology and Cruise continue to deny any and all of these sordid tales, calling them the work of anti-Scientologists, there comes a point when so many different accounts of the same story start to ring true.

4. And Speaking of Scientology, Apparently The Organization Wants to Distance Themselves from Half Sack.

This week, 28 year old “Sons of Anarchy” actor Johnny Lewis fell to his death after he allegedly killed his landlord (and her cat). Lewis, who is rumored to have been on drugs, have had a mental illness—or both, was at one time involved with Scientology’s drug rehab group, Narconon. His parents are both Scientologists. But perhaps the group has had enough bad press lately, as pictures and references to Lewis are being removed from its affiliated web sites. You may remember Tom Cruise’s past references to the Scientolo-method of vitamin therapy?

3. Mark Webb and Andrew Garfield Confirmed They’ll Both Return for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. (Emma Stone Is Still Negotiating.)

Though during previous interviews Webb seemed uncertain about directing the sequel, he now seems keen on “getting pregnant again” (The director had likened reporters asking him about a sequel right when a film was done, to asking a woman who’s just given birth if she wants to get preggers again). Garfield has also signed on for the sequel—which already has a release date of May 2, 2014. Expect to hear news of the third triplet within hours…

2. Prometheus’ Two Blu-ray Releases and Their Myriad Special Features Were Announced; Answers Were Promised.

Y’all know how Ridley is—clearly one Prometheus Blu-ray DVD is not enough. And seeing as we still have lingering questions, this is one time the master director may not have overestimated our thirst for information. I know I need to know what he was thinking when he put his name on it, so I have a feeling I’ll be ponying up to the Big Idiot line.

Meanwhile, The Dark Knight Rises Blu-ray DVD Extras Will Have Plenty of Cool Stuff, But No Nolan Commentary.

The Dark Knight Rises Blu-ray, DVD and UltraViolet combo pack (and Batman Cowl limited edition packaging upgrade) will feature the film in 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio and 1080p video. Though once again, Nolan does no commentary (he “hates them”), there are plenty of fancy extras:

1. The Sessions Released an Intriguing Trailer.

Usually, if I read about a film chronicling the life of someone paralyzed from the neck down, I immediately decide it would be too depressing to watch. Or, as in the case of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, acclaim sucked me in and I had myself a good cry. But The Sessions looks like it’s going a different route and…well, go ahead and take a gander at the trailer; I’ll bet you find yourself smirking. Based on the true story of writer Mark O’Brien (played by John Hawkes, Lincoln, American Gangster, “Eastbound & Down”), the film takes on his quest to have a sex life with the help of a surrogate (Helen Hunt). William H. Macy plays a wry priest and Adam Arkin, O’Brian’s therapist. The Sessions premiered at Sundance and won the Audience Award and the U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Prize; it hits theaters October 19th.
