We’re upon Halloween, so the revival screenings of Ghostbusters are everywhere. There’s also a fair amount of news coming out of fan cons about new side-projects for the world’s favorite fictional paranormal exterminators. Here’s a collection of all the crazy, bizarre, terrible, and worthwhile extensions of the Bustin’ universe.

New Feature Film

Slashfilm reported at the start of October 2015 that a new animated feature film is being produced with Ivan Reitman producing. This should be released around the time of the Paul Feig reboot.

The Real Ghostbusters

The late 80s gave our childhoods this delightful tie-in that taught us all that Slimer (original name Onionhead) was a part of the team and not just a Belushi tribute nightmare. Famous for the inclusion of “real” in the title because of Hanna-Barbara’s “The Ghost Busters” which was terrible. This launched several comic tie-in series.

Extreme Ghostbusters

Began running in ‘97 and spawned its own line of comic books and video games.

Video Games

Angry Video Game Nerd Review of Ghostbusters NES

This was it. The original game that drove every kid I knew absolutely insane. To this day it remains an addiction yet a nadir of the entire era’s licensed output. This game is also famous for one of the worst/greatest ending victory screens in video game history and oh god do I want to get this as a back tattoo because in 1990 I earned it.

Ghostbusters The Game 2009

This is the pinnacle of the games, featuring original voice actors and a script based on the unproduced draft for the third film. (This video ties together all the cut scenes to make a 2 hour movie for your enjoyment.

Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime

A budget arcade title that was absolutely not worth the $15.

Ghostbusters II PC

The only GB game that let you play as Winston. Think about that for a second.

New Ghostbusters II NES

Genesis Ghostbusters (Speed Run)

Ghostbusters DOOM Mod

Ghostbusters App Game

At 14:45 Ghostbusters in forthcoming Lego Dimensions

Last week it was announced that a new line of comics is inbound called Ghostbusters International, which puts the series in line with Aykroyd’s original vision of franchise based workers doing blue-collar work around the globe.

Crossover with TMNT
When a new invention goes haywire, the Turtles are sent to a whole new type of New York City. One with a whole lot more ghosts… and Ghostbusters! The two teams will have to learn to get along quickly, because a new foe from the Turtles past has followed them and aims to conquer NYC!

IDW took over the franchise rights from 2008 onward. There’ve been a few hardcover collections of their runs including Mass Hysteria and Total Containment.

The New Ghostbusters
The IDW Team did a run with a 75% female Ghostbuster team, featuring one semi-sleazy male companion. This probably got the ball rolling for Feig’s feature.

Crossover with X-Files: Conspiracy

Short 2014 release from IDW.

Crossover with Mars Attacks!
Honestly, this one is just for me.

Board Games

Cryptozoic 2015
This new game was Kickstarted in 2014 and just released. Combat in the game will utilize dice rolls, cards, and traps. Fans of the movies can look forward to taking on the beloved Slimer and the mighty Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and much more. In addition, you will be able to level up your chosen Ghostbuster and reuse him in multiple games.

Cartoon-Tie In

This 3D game takes a cue from 13 Dead End Drive or MouseTrap and involves ghosts wrecking havok on a standup city. Milton Bradly produced this and all the ghosts are from the pilot of the original cartoon.

The Critic

Jay The Critic is given a chance to write the third GB film. As a kid, my dad showed me this to answer my questions of why there weren’t more sequels to the things I loved.

Fan Film
Freddy VS Ghostbusters

This 2004 fan film was the first longform fan video I ever remember seeing on the internet. It deserves its place in net history.

Ghostbusters: Hellbent

A helluva a follow up feature length.

Silent Night

A Ghostbusters fan Christmas special pitting them against Santa Claus.

Anything we missed from the GB universe? Let us know now.
