9 Actresses Who We Just Kind of Miss After Their Careers Faded for Some Reason

I was musing in my head this morning about a few actresses that I was missing, mostly on our television screens, and as I started to document them here in this post, a strange pattern began to emerge. I’m sure it’s a coincidence.

Sarah Chalke (Age 39)

She’s got voice work on Rick and Morty, and she still pops up from time to time in shows like Grey’s Anatomy or Angie Tribeca, but Chalke needs a new series, and it needs to be better than her last three offerings, Backstrom (cancelled after one season), How to Live with Your Parents (For the Rest of Your Life) (cancelled after one season) and Mad Love (cancelled after one season). (Christa Miller, another Scrubs alum, is also sadly absent these days, at least until husband Bill Lawrence can get another sitcom on the air.)

Andrea Anders (Age 41)

Save for a recurring role on Modern Family and About a Boy, the best thing about Better Off Ted and Mr. Sunshine and the only thing good about Joey has been sadly absent in recent years.

Kelly Macdonald (Age 40)

After The Girl in the Café and No Country for Old Men, I thought MacDonald was set to, at the very least, become a prolific, occasionally Oscar nominated character actress. Unfortunately, it seems that Boardwalk Empire preoccupied much of her time for four years, and now she’s sadly absent from both our televisions and movie screens.

Cameron Diaz (Age 43)

Once one of the most prolific actresses in Hollywood, the Oscar nominee — who made some great films, and some not so great films — has been conspicuously absent from the entertainment industry since 2014’s Annie. She has nothing in the works, either.

Drew Barrymore (Age 41)

Barrymore has appeared in one movie that anyone has heard of in the last four years (2014’s Blended with Adam Sandler) and one that no one has, Miss You Already. She used to be in two or three movies a year.

Monica Potter (Age 45)

The Con Air, Patch Adams, Along Came a Spider, and Saw star had a nice run on Parenthood, and now she has vanished.

Megyn Price (Age 45)

Price’s love interests in Rules of Engagement (Patrick Warburton) and Grounded for Life (Donal Logue) seem to be doing fine. Weird that Price has all but disappeared. Can’t quite figure out why.

Jennifer Connelly (Age 45)

Connelly was in over 40 movies up until 2014’s Noah. We haven’t seen her since. Weird.

Maggie Gyllenhaal (Age 38)

Appearing in The Dark Knight and Secretary and Stranger than Fiction or Away We Go and getting all that exposure was fun, but a television show that was a cross-production between BBC and SundanceTV two years ago is fine, too, I guess. (Honorouble Woman was actually very good, but it’d be nice to find her in something else that people actually watch).
