6 Celebrity Couples Who Know How to Monetize the Crap Out of Their Relationships

There are tons of celebrity couples who have worked together, with cameos in each other’s shows, or the occasional ad campaign. But these six couples have taken things to the next level, in making their relationship almost as famous as they are themselves. And somehow, all six have managed to do so without ever crossing over into making us feel gross about it.

Kristen Bell & Dax Shepard
These two already knew we were invested in their enviable, adorable relationship, which is why they gave us the gift of that honeymoon Toto music video. So why not release other videos of them being cute and in love, while also making a crapload of money? Thank you to the geniuses at Samsung who proposed the idea of making not just two actors, but basically their relationship itself, their new spokescouple.

Chelsea Peretti & Jordan Peele
Following in the footsteps of Shepard and Bell, these two have managed to turn their recent engagement into what I hope is a big fat paycheck. This has such potential to be icky and self-indulgent, but just like those last two, Peretti and Peele are saved by a combination of us already loving them and their impossible coolness.

Cameron Esposito & Rhea Butcher
If you don’t know who Cameron Esposito is, you probably will soon. She’s a comedian who (like many others in that field) has been— not blurring, more like totally forgoing any line between her career and personal life for a while now. An ongoing column at The AV Club often reads like straight-up diary entries, but that intimacy gained her a pretty solid fanbase in small circles. Last month she released a stand-up special called Marriage Material (GET IT?), filmed two days before her wedding (cause neither is stressful enough on its own?), and her wife has been joining her onstage for recent stand-up sets.

Cameron and Rhea: married three months.

Kanye West & Kim Kardashian
I know I’m probably not in the majority here, but I’m also sure I’m not alone in not being able to name or identify a Kanye song, and also never having seen a minute of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, but still knowing WAY too much about these two, as individuals, but even more so as a couple.

Megan Mullaly & Nick Offerman
I’m sure there are a TON of people out there who only know these two from network television, but they’ve developed a whole arm of their respective careers that’s based in knowing we’ll pay money to watch them be in love. Most notably, they recently toured the country with their play Summer of 69 (no apostrophe), an ode to the “greatest love relationship of all time:” their own. I will also never pass up an opportunity to post this video.

Emma Stone & Andrew Garfield
These two are the outlier because for one thing, they’re not a couple anymore (*SOB*), and second, capitalizing on their relationship was a reaction more than a decision. They didn’t sign to an ad campaign to make money off their cuteness, but they famously found a way to use our obsession to their advantage, drawing attention to various charities through paparazzi photos.
