Having recently watched Bloodline and Predestination, I was reminded of how many breakout Aussie actors we’re lucky to have lured to our shores. To Americans, they may seem to have to popped up out of nowhere, but a lot of them worked in Oz a long time before catching on here (Ben Mendelsohn). A few broke out of Australian film pretty quickly (Toni Collette and Rachel Griffiths in Muriel’s Wedding), and some started out on the long-running soap, Neighbours (Russell Crowe, Margot Robbie, Guy Pearce) before they took over stateside — however they got here, we’re duly appreciative and grateful. So apropos of nothing (it’s Thursday night, and we love accents?), here are eleven of our favorite Aussie friends.
