Happy Valentine’s Day, Pajibans. It’s also my daughters’ birthday and they want to go to breakfast, so this is going to be brief.

Last night’s show was about 70 percent mediocre and about 30 percent absolutely brilliant. If you’re crunched for time, watch Beyonce, Test Screening, and Weekend Update and skip the rest. Bonus, if you watch the entire show: Three OJ jokes!

Hillary For President Cold Open — Hillary Clinton (Kate McKinnon) laments Bernie Sanders’ popularity with young people through a performance of “I Can’t Make You Love Me.” Aww, this hurt my heart a little. Poor Hillary. (Score: 6/10)

Melissa McCarthy Five-Timers Monologue — Me: “There’s no way McCarthy has hosted 5 times already! It’s been, I think, like four times … oh, that’s the joke.” (Score: 4/10)

“The Day Beyonce Turned Black” — Perfect. (Score: 10/10)

Test Screening — This is how gifted a physical comedian Melissa McCarthy is: I knew what was coming, but I still laughed until I nearly peed myself. (Score: 8/10)

Movie Night — Members of a family (Pete Davidson, Melissa McCarthy, Bobby Moynihan) try to diffuse the tension when they accidentally end up watching a sex scene together. Not as funny as it should have been. (Score: 5/10)

Weekend Update — Colin Jost and Michael Che continue to vibe — they really have gotten very good at this. Vanessa Bayer’s Rachel from Friends impression is spot on but goes on way too long; Von Miller makes a fun but appropriately short appearance; and Leslie Jones’ perfect man segment goes on way too long but is intermittently funny. (Score: 7/10)

Pick-Up Artist — This sketch actually wasn’t very good, except that Leslie Jones couldn’t keep it together, which was mostly funny because there was no reason she should’ve been cracking up so badly. (Score: 4/10)

Kyle vs. Kanye Mooney challenges Kanye West to a rap battle in a bid to return to his hip-hop roots. It was very Kyle Mooney, which is to say a lot of build-up for very little payoff. (Score: 4/10)

Bus — A woman (Leslie Jones) regrets taking a seat on the bus as soon as the passenger (Melissa McCarthy) next to her starts talking, because the woman talking is straight-up racist. (Score: 4/10)

Whiskers R We with Melissa McCarthy — Barbara DeDrew (Kate McKinnon) and Tabby-tha (Melissa McCarthy) show off the cats available for adoption as part of the Valentine’s Cat Giveaway. A better sketch than it should’ve been, mostly because McCarthy and McKinnon are great together. (Score: 6/10)
