Fact: Bill Hader as a real-life person seems charming and fun, and on just this side of “hot” on the creepy/hot divide. He’s Hot By Hot/Creepy in directional terms. As evidenced by this clip of him hanging out with his good friend Seth Meyers, where he confesses what John Mulaney — who writes the Stefon sketches — whispered into his ear on SNL. (“My girlfriend works at Yoshinoya Beef Bowl”)
Fact: Liam Neeson is farther on the hot side of creepy/hot, but has a little creepy to him as evidenced by this clip of him auditioning for Santa on The Late Show.
Fact: I’m not sure at all how I feel about this:
I have so many questions. Was Bill Hader supposed to be doing a Liam Neeson impression? Or was Liam Neeson just the creative force behind that video greeting card? Did they cut the sketch because Hader couldn’t get the accent right? Or did somebody really think this was less good than that stupid alien baby sketch? And most importantly, why am I still kind of into it? Am I just that into slightly-weird-looking, Irish dudes (See also Lip Gallagher’s entire back catalogue)? And most importantly, is Bill Hader Pajiba 10 material now? What is happening?
I’m going to need more butter.
