Glamour (via tumblr) magazine got together many of the women from the last 40 years of Saturday Night Live for a photoshoot ahead of the show’s 40th Anniversary special. What’s kind of interesting about it is that most of the women are from the last three casts of SNL, plus a couple of earlier ones in Lorraine Newman and Jane Curtin. With only 17 women featured, you’d think there’d be some noticeable absences from 40 years of female cast members.
But honestly? Besides Gilda Radner (deceased) and Victoria Jackson (crazy), the photoshoot encompasses all the long-running, iconic SNL women, which really does say a lot about the pre-Tina Fey years of the show.
Also, Taran Killam and, for some reason, Colin Jost are featured.
Speaking of Jost, he wrote one of the worst pieces ever published in The New Yorker over the weekend. Titled “I Will Slap You” (no relation to NBC’s The Slap), it’s both profoundly unfunny and completely nonsensical. You keep waiting for a point or a punchline to avail itself, but it never does. It is, as Adam Scott teaches us, awful.
