Boy, I Sure Hope Phoebe-Waller Bridge Is Playing Dot Matrix in the ‘Han Solo’ Movie

It’s oddly appropriate that the Han Solo Star Wars spin-off still doesn’t have a real title, because aside from Alden “Baby Han Boy” Ehrenreich and Donald “A Literal Clone Of Billy Dee Williams In Certain Lighting” Glover, we don’t actually know anything about who anyone in the cast is playing. Woody Harrelson is the grizzled mentor as usual, sure, but between Emilia Clarke, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Thandie Newton, there are three female leads and we don’t know who they are.

Well, we might have a better idea about one of them, finally. According to The Tracking Board — which isn’t always right (remember all that misplaced Princess Diaries 3 hype in summer 2015?), so grain of salt and all that — Phoebe Waller-Bridge of Fleabag fame is playing a CGI character who “will be the first significantly-featured (sorry TC-14!) female droid in Star Wars history.”

First of all, you should be sorry. How dare you forget about TC-14 and ignore PZ-4C0 from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, because she’s great. I don’t care that all her lines were cut. She’s like a giant blue robot Big Bird and I want to give her a hug!

But secondly and more importantly, this would appear to be a perfect role for Waller-Bridge. Droids in Star Wars are often used for comic relief, and Fleabag was packed with exact the kind of dry, sardonic wit that would sound perfect coming out of K-2S0. Except, you know, it was about a depressed British millennial and not harrowing battles in space.

However, if I may be so bold — we don’t exactly want a total repeat of “Sardonically Asshole British droid,” as much as we loved him Rogue One. So what if this droid was maybe a little more… zingy?

I mean, come on. What is Mel Brooks gonna do, sue?
