I don’t really have many interesting celebrity stories. I live in London, so I see them wandering about here and there, and occasionally we exchange a few words, but by and large that is the extent of it.

To me though, there is something about the banal celebrity encounters that makes them much more interesting than the eventful ones. Celebrity is such an ephemeral, bullshit concept, and probably the closest thing we have to a modern secular religion, so seeing it challenged by the harsh light of the everyday is in its own way quite thrilling. After all it’s like old Michel de Montaigne said: ‘Kings and philosophers shit. Even on the highest throne in the world, we are seated still upon our arses.’
