Reddit Asks the Question: 'Parents, What Are Your 'I Looked Away For ONE Second' Stories?'

You remember that clip from some sort of garden party that went viral a few years back? It’s only a few seconds long, but that’s all it needs to be, as it opens on a kid running around a pool with something in his hand, and a woman (presumably the mother) in the foreground asks him what he has. ‘A knife!’ he shouts in demented glee, brandishing the tool in his hand and continuing his run. The woman screams ‘NO!’ in the most hilariously panicked, yet totally apt, way, and shoots off after him, and the clip ends. Perfect, Early parenthood, summed up. A 24-hour job aimed at keeping an unpredictable, tireless, trouble-seeking missile from finding its target. I mean, I assume. I don’t have kids. I have a nephew though, and even just based on that, the clip seems to ring true.
