Enter At Your Own Peril, If You Will: Reddit's 'hmmm' Subreddit
Reddit. I tread the boards of its unstable surface, the thin film that separates the good from the bad. There isn’t much distance between the wholesome subreddits— often full of wisdom and humor— and the vast oceans of madness lurking just beneath the ice.
I stalk this dangerous ground for you.
I venture forth and I return bearing dad jokes, shower thoughts, and women’s worst ‘nice guy’ experiences. Sometimes I plunge and I trawl, mouth gaping open gormlessly, all for your benefit. So you don’t have to venture out onto the ice, or below it.
But this time? This time I’m gonna ask you to take a few steps.
r/hmmm is a subreddit that has only a handful of rules:
1) All titles must be ‘hmmm’, 2) No hmmms that depend on text, 3) No porn, gore, explicit shots or gross-out images, 4) NSFW posts are ok but should be artistic, 5) Gifs should be posted to r/hmmmgifs, 6) No memes of comics, 7) Use imgur/reddit for hosting.
When you browse r/hmmm, unlike in other areas of Reddit, you do not get to see image thumbnails before you click. Everything is just… ‘hmmm’.
You click, and you see.
So it shall be here.
