Why Is Anyone Surprised By Trump's Response To Anti-Muslim Garbage Person?

This repulsive Republican frontrunner has been gunning hard for the racist vote. So it was only a matter of time before we got video of Donald Trump being confronted by a bigoted garbage person. And here we have it.

From Trump’s campaign rally in Rochester, New Hampshire courtesy of MSNBC.

“We have a problem in this country, it’s called Muslims. We know our current president is one. You know he’s not even an American-” the unidentified questionaire began, practically spitting the words “current president.”

Trump interrupted him, not to shut down such talk—as John McCain did in similar circumstances back in 2008 when he was running for President—but to play to the crowd with a smile and say, “We need this question.”

“But anyway,” the questioner continues, “We have training camps brewing where they want to kill us. That’s my question, when can we get rid of them?”

Trump replied to this none-too-subtle call for a war on Muslims with: “We’re going to be looking at a lot of different things. A lot of people are saying that, a lot of people are saying bad things are happening out there. We’re going to be looking at that and plenty of other things.”

Relevant:

Many are shocked and appalled at Trump’s casual reply to a scathingly racist question. But why? He’s become the voice for these people. He’s proud to spout outlandish racist claims about America having a rape problem because of Mexicans who’ve illegally crossed our borders. He’s promoting a “say whatever the hell you want and never apologize” culture. This was bound to happen.

Now it has, and Trump responded with the same ambiguity that he has when asked about anything that isn’t building a border wall. He’s not flat-out promising to round Muslims up in reservations like this nation did with Native Americans and the Japanese. But he didn’t shut down the question either, which has him in hot water with political commentators today.

But of course the Trump campaign is doing what they do when he goes to far, they’re translating what we all heard him say to what he really meant. Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski claims, “The media wants to make this issue about Obama. The bigger issue is that Obama is waging a war against Christians in this country. They need support and their religious liberty is at stake.”

So religious liberty only matters if you’re Christian?

What remains to be seen is how Trump supporters will respond.
