Asking whether the President of the United States or the terrorists are a bigger threat to American Democracy may seem like an absurd question, but right now, it definitely feels like the former.
It's hard to read Trump's tweets this morning and not think that we're one domestic attack away from the most dangerous version of this guy

We have a doddering, mentally unstable, racist old man sitting in the White House watching and reacting to the fears stoked by Fox News, which is also the unofficial source of intelligence for the POTUS. This man creates policy in this country, and he sees terrorist attacks not as horrific act of violence but as a political opportunity, as validation of his Fox News-stoked fears, and he’s willing to bend the facts to suit his whims.

He also sees it as an opportunity to distract us from the Russia collusion/Comey/obstruction investigation, and an opportunity to consolidate power and overwhelm both the legislative and judicial branches. He’s attacking pluralistic values …
At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is "no reason to be alarmed!"

… he’s encouraging his supporters to arm themselves, and thanks to Fox News, many of those supporters believe that all Muslims are the enemy …
Do you notice we are not having a gun debate right now? That's because they used knives and a truck!

A member of Congress (@RepClayHiggins) seems to be calling for genocide?

… he is railing against political correctness again, which as we all know is code for diminishing the empowered voices of non-white, non-male, non-straight people …
We must stop being politically correct and get down to the business of security for our people. If we don't get smart it will only get worse

… and he’s aggressively pushing the Supreme Court to ignore the Constitution and enact what he now fully concedes is a “ban” against Muslims.
People, the lawyers and the courts can call it whatever they want, but I am calling it what we need and what it is, a TRAVEL BAN!

Donald Trump is empowering the enemy, and I’m not just talking about ISIS. He’s empowering men like Jeremy Christian, who killed two men and badly wounded another for trying to protect two young women who were the subject of anti-Muslim hate speech. He’s inflaming both extremes, and he wants to use the violence perpetrated to centralize his own power. He wants to erect walls, enforce religious bans, imprison people of color, and take away their civil rights. And he’s one terrorist attack away from justifying all of those actions, in his own mind anyway. Whether he successfully does so will depend on how defiant we are, and how much of a fight we are willing to put up in the wake of whatever terror arrives.
Good morning, and welcome to another terrifying week in Trump’s America.
We could have had this, y’all.
After acts of unspeakable cruelty & cowardice, the people of London & the UK choose resolve over fear. Your friends in the US stand w/ you. https://t.co/ZUkeTG4qoh
