Michael Wolff’s book Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House has been a hot topic of conversation ever since excerpts started dropping online. As Dustin wrote this morning, Wolff’s book is full of surprising-but-not-really revelations about the little-handed man in the big, white house.
The gems in Wolff’s book include Ivanka’s White House ambitions, Trump admitting that Eric and Don Jr. are stupid, and Trump’s predilection for trying to sleep with his friends’ wives. That last one is a super big surprise from someone who talked about grabbing women in their genitals.
In a business move that backfired like that old Camaro in your uncle’s side yard, Trump and his lawyers issued a cease and desist to Wolff and his publishers, Henry Holt & Co., citing libel, slander, and breach of confidentiality. I’m no lawyer, but doesn’t breach of confidentiality mean that the information is probably true? At the very least, it makes it seem like the information was given with the promise of Wolff keeping it to himself, thereby validating his writing.
Trump then ordered his minions to say the book was all lies, with Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders referring to Fire and Fury in a briefing today as having “mistake after mistake after mistake”. Never mind that the notorious Wolff was invited to spend 18 months with Trump and his team. According to Axios, Wolff was even wearing a recording device in his time with Trump. This means that Wolff may have the receipts to shower down on Trump and family once the book releases tomorrow.
Oh, I’m sorry. Did you read somewhere that the release date of Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House was January 9th? Did you think a cease-and-desist from a Trump lawyer, notoriously bad at all things, would stop the book? Honey, no. Sensing dollar signs and smelling blood in the water, Henry Holt & Co made the decision to release Wolff’s masterpiece in every format tomorrow, January 5th, 2018.
Man, that Donald Trump sure is an amazing businessman, if his business is based in Opposite Land.
