Two More Republican Senators Come Out Against Trumpcare, Dealing Possible Deathblows
With Susan Collins and Rand Paul dead set against voting for Trumpcare, Mitch McConnell could only afford to lose one Republican Senator before the bill is voted on. Tonight, he has lost two. Kansas Senator Jerry Moran and Utah Senator Mike Lee have decided, seemingly in tandem, not to support the AHCA.

Here is my statement explaining why I will vote no on the BCRA motion to proceed: https://t.co/lDpIGDS456— Mike Lee (@SenMikeLee) July 18, 2017
That’s four, and while both Senators seem to be rejecting the bill because it’s not a full repeal and not because it fails to cover enough people, Democrats will take rejection any way we can get it.
Looks like Mitch McConnell’s decision to postpone the August recess was all for naught, unless he can come up with yet another version that will squeak through with both moderates and hard-line conservatives.
Trump was supposed to have dinner with several Republican Senators tonight to work on healthcare, but neither Lee nor Moran were invited. Meanwhile, now that the bill is all but dead, I’m sure that Marco Rubio will chime in to say that he was never going to vote for it, anyway.
