No one in the Trump Administration looks more like the Monopoly Man than Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, so it’s kind of nice of him to make public statements that align with the brand. Today, Wilbur Ross — whose net worth is somewhere around $3 billion — put on his monocle and said, out loud, “I don’t quite understand why” furloughed workers are going to food banks when there are loans available. “So there really isn’t a good excuse why there is a liquidity crisis. Now true, people might have to pay a little bit of interest, but the idea that it’s paycheck or zero is not really a valid idea.”
(He also expressed disappointment in all the air-traffic controllers who are calling in sick).
