Racists Have Found a New Euphemism for 'Racists'

The Alt-Right is not a new term, but it’s quickly gaining steam as the new way to describe the right-wing faction of the Republican party that supports Donald Trump. It’s a new name — rising out of the bowels of 4chan — but it’s the same old ideology of White Supremacists, Neo-Nazis, and Tea Partiers wrapped up in a new label. It’s the Breitbart people, and as Donald Trump badly attempts to court black voters, Hillary Clinton wants to remind the American voting public of exactly who supports Donald Trump.

David Duke does not take kindly to Clinton’s characterizations of the alt-right.

To be sure, this is not a “Republican” movement, and there are plenty of Republicans who are rejecting it. Like, for instance, the former Director of Media Relations for Bob Dole’s presidential campaign, Andrew Weinstein. In this interview, he speaks of the disgusting anti-Semitic attacks he’s been confronted with from Trump supporters in his own party. He also links Trump to those supporters. He mentions, for instance, that when a reporter who wrote a piece on Melania Trump was attacked by the alt-right, Trump did nothing. In fact, when asked by a journalist if Trump had a message for his racist fans, Trump said, “I have no message for my ‘fans.’” The alt-right took that as tacit approval continue their campaign of hatred.

It’s an insane interview.

Today, for those unfamiliar with the new term, a hashtag explaining what Alt-Right means began trending on Twitter. There were plenty of Tweets taking issue with the Alt-Right, but here’s exactly how those in the Alt-Right describe their movement.

It’s terrifying.

I swear to God it’s like we’ve time warped back into 1950’s Jim Crow America.
