Quick Follow Up Question Here, President Trump!

In Poland early this morning, NBC reporter Hallie Jackson asked Donald Trump for something like the 1000th time if he thought Russia was behind the hacking and interference of the 2016 election. He said, “I think it was Russia but I think it was probably other people and or countries. I see nothing wrong with that statement.” At least he’s conceding now that Russia was at least an actor involved in meddling in an election that eventually led to Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton.

However, Trump attempted to shift the blame onto President Obama.

“Why did he do nothing about it? He was told it was Russia by the CIA … and he did nothing about it. They said he choked. I don’t think he choked. Well, I don’t think he choked. I think what happened was he thought Hillary Clinton was going to win the election and he said let’s not do anything about it. Had he thought the other way, he would have done something about it.”

Now this is exactly where a reporter should asked a follow up:

“President Trump: First of all, President Obama may not have been as forceful as he should’ve been, but it’s wrong to say that he didn’t act at all. However, had he acted more forcefully, would it have changed the outcome of the election? Are you saying, as the intelligence community has, that the election meddling was done in order to boost your chances of being elected? Given the margin of victory — you lost the popular vote by 3 million votes, after all — does that call into question the legitimacy of your Presidency? And if you had lost the election because Obama had appropriately convinced America that the Russians were meddling, would you have accused Obama of personally interfering?”

Come on, traveling press. We can’t do your job for you.
