About Bloody Time: The Police Are Investigating Accused Catfisher and Blackmailer Dan Wootton

Hack ‘journalist’ and GB News propagandist Dan Wootton is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police after facing multiple accusations of blackmail and catfishing of various men. Wootton, who is best known in the UK for being one of the biggest bullies of Meghan Markle, was investigated by the Byline Times this year, and their exposé alleged that he staged a 10-year-long campaign to ‘catfish’ men using the online alias of ‘Martin Branning’ to persuade them to film sexual content, which was then, in at least one case, allegedly used for blackmail.

A Met Police spokesperson told the Byline Times:

‘In June 2023, the Metropolitan Police was contacted with regards to allegations of sexual offences committed by a man aged in his 40s. Officers assessed all information available to establish whether any criminal offence has taken place. We can confirm that an investigation has now commenced into these allegations. Detectives will continue to liaise with the complainant to establish the circumstances. There has been no arrest and inquiries continue.’

Journalists for the Byline Times also handed over a 28-page dossier of evidence to the Met Police in June of this year, a month before they published a series of stories examining the allegations against Wootton.

Wootton didn’t face any repercussions from GB News when the story broke, although his column for Mail Online was paused pending an investigation. He has since been suspended from GB News not because he’s an alleged sexual harasser and blackmailer but because he was complicit in the on-air misogynistic abuse of a female journalist. He and fellow bigoted hack Laurence Fox faced a sliver of accountability after repeatedly denigrating journalist Ava Evans live on his show.

Dan Wootton is a total worm. He’s the lowest of the low, a man who has made his bread and butter from spreading lies, hatred, and all manner of dog-whistle panic. His seething disdain for Meghan Markle is so infamous that even many of the other Meghan haters find him off-putting. It’s no wonder GB News picked him up, hoping to turn him into a somehow less charismatic Tucker Carlson. It’s also no surprise that he was eventually suspended in a prime example of ‘fuck around and find out.’ Canning him for smirking along to Fox’s sexist screed and not the alleged sex crimes has the air of Al Capone going down for tax evasion, but at least we’re finally seeing some action from the authorities. Let the whole bunch of them rot.
