Not a Good Look for 'Christians' This Morning

After caving to social media pressure, today Joel Osteen has finally decided to open up his Houston Megachurch — which seats 16,000 people — to flood victims in Texas. The celebrity televangelist, however, says that social media has created a “false narrative” surrounding his initial refusal to open up his church. “We were just being precautious,” he said, “but the main thing is the city didn’t ask us to become a shelter then.”

Because that’s the golden rule, right? “Do unto others as they would do unto you, as long as the city ask first.”

You know what, Joel? The city didn’t ask J.J. Watt to raise $5 million in 24 hours. The city didn’t ask a mosque to open their doors to flood victims.

The city didn’t have to ask Mattress Mack to open up his furniture stores to flood victims. They just did it.

These people — and hundreds and hundreds of others — just reached out without waiting for someone to ask them to offer assistance. They just did so because they are good people, Christians or not.

Meanwhile, here’s another Christian televangelist, Jim Bakker, warning that Christians will start a civil war if Trump is impeached because that’s definitely the hill that Christians want to die on: The pussy-grabbing, Nazi-sympathizing Commander in Chief.

These people, of course, aren’t “Christians.” They’re wealthy scam artist with tax exemptions who don’t want to be bothered to fulfill their actual Christian duties.

Mostly unrelated, but I had to put this somewhere: VP Pence deleted this tweet possibly — as Shareblue suggested — because he looks “too Presidential,” and Trump (who is using Twitter to hawk his hats while people are dying in Houston) didn’t want to be shown up. That’s total speculation, but I totally believe it to be true.
