In a short speech this morning, Nancy Pelosi announced that she would ask “our chairman to proceed with articles of impeachment.”
“The facts are uncontested,” she said. “The president abused his power for his own personal political benefit.” This is happening. It’s happening less because Nancy Pelosi thinks she will get a conviction in the Senate, and more because she wants to send a signal to Trump that no one is above the law, even if the results of impeachment proceedings invariably conclude that Trump is indeed above the law.
