The Mueller investigation has released the Michael Flynn sentencing memo, and while I would have loved nothing more than to see Michael Flynn spend the next decade in prison (LOCK HIM UP), the fact that he may get no jail time may be even better. That’s because — in spite of what the Mueller memo calls “serious crimes” — Trump’s first National Security advisor took responsibility for his actions early on, and has provided substantial assistance to the special counsel, sitting for nineteen (19!) interviews, on average one or two interviews per month.
Flynn’s cooperation includes answering questions about possible coordination between the Trump campaign and the Russian government, as well as information pertaining to several other ongoing investigations. Mueller recommended zero to six months, including the possibility of serving no jail time.
What does this mean? Probably that Trump is gonna get jammed up, but the news may be even more damaging to Jared Kushner and Mike Pence. The details of the memo were redacted, however, because of the ongoing investigation.
Later this week, Mueller will show how Paul Manafort violated his plea agreement, as well as outline Michael Cohen’s cooperation in the probe. Roger Stone is also being investigated by a grand jury. Witch hunt, huh?
