Meghan McCain's Husband Sure Publishes a Lot of Anti-LGBTQ Horsesh*t

Earlier in the week, I covered the schadenfreude-tastic implosion of DC McAllister’s career. To quickly recap, while Meghan McCain was receiving a diversity award from the Harvey Milk Foundation because nothing means anything anymore, McCallister — a.k.a. Denise of “You were at my wedding, Denise” — went on a viral Twitter rant where she railed against “gay men and their female sidekicks,” and it didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out who the last part was about. Within hours, McAllister was sh*tcanned by The Federalist publisher Ben Domenech, who’s also married to Meghan, which Denise definitely knows. She was at the wedding.

For the sake of emphasizing of how goddamn insane it is that a “hardcore conservative” like Meghan McCain is out here receiving diversity awards, I want to circle back to that topic instead of covering her latest spat with Joy Behar, which I was very, very tempted to do. Because, seriously, how did that fight even start? Does someone pull a string on Meghan’s back and she starts yelling, “I’m smart! I’m very smart! John McCain’s sperm made me smart!” I must know…

Anyway, while I briefly touched on the hypocrisy of Meghan’s undying love for a party whose current president is wreaking havoc on the transgender community because his evangelical base constantly demands red, Jesus-y meat tossed into their gaping maws, Media Matters for America editor-at-large Parker Molloy did a dive into The Federalist’s penchant for publishing blatant anti-LGBTQ horsesh*t.

It’s bad.

Today, The Federalist is rife with articles arguing against allowing gay couples to adopt, some of which frame the issue as akin to child abuse. Articles such as “Dear Gay Community: Your Kids Are Hurting,” “What It’s Like To Face The LGBT Inquisition,” “Same-Sex Marriage Won’t Bring Us Peace,” and “The Kids Are Not Alright: A Lesbian’s Daughter Speaks Out” warn that “if people cease to take thinking seriously, the LGBT lobby wins,” that it’s “not natural” to grow up living with two women, and that “redefining marriage undermines freedom of speech and conscience, parent rights, and good home lives for children.”

Molloy also expanded on her research with a Twitter thread that correctly takes Meghan to task for claiming to be LGBTQ ally while her husband is, journalistically speaking, the f*cking worst.

If @meghanmccain wants to help LGBTQ people, maybe she could start by asking her husband why he publishes stuff like this.

Now, some might argue that it’s not fair to hold Meghan responsible for the actions of her husband, but yeah, actually it is. For starters, guess who sits on the board on The Federalist. I’ll give you a hint: It rhymes with Smeghan McVain. On top of that, Meghan loves to drop cutesy little anecdotes on The View about the political discussions she has with Domenech like he’s just a sweet, normal guy, and not some dude publishing articles about… *checks notes*… the benefits of bullying transgender schoolchildren. How adorable.

Finally, Meghan likes to present herself as a rough-and-tumble, conservative boss-bitch who shoots it straight like her maverick dad, John McCain. (Have you heard of him?) So you’d think she’d have no problem telling her husband that he’s sleeping on the couch until he stops running a homophobic printing press. It’s not like they need the money! And if she thinks that suggestion is out of line, well, I have a straight-shooting response of my own:

Blow it out your dynastic mayo-ass, Meghan.
