Kamala Harris Chooses Minnesota Governor Tim Walz As Her Running Mate

CNN is reporting that Vice President Kamala Harris has chosen Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate. An official announcement is expected to be made shortly, and Walz will begin campaigning with Harris in Philadelphia today.

In recent weeks, Walz has come out of nowhere to become the popular choice among Democrats. He’s a folksy former high school football coach, comes from a blue-collar background, and has a background in the military. He’s also the guy who started the Trump/Vance ticket is “weird” narrative.

This is the guy we picked last week, at a time when he still felt like a longshot. But he’s been so good on cable news, he energizes Democrats so much, and he can go after Republicans without making it toxic. He’s absolutely brilliant, and while I think that Josh Shapiro gave the campaign the best chance to win Pennsylvania, Walz gives Harris the best chance to win all the swing state without alienating anyone in the Democratic party while picking up a lot of midwestern independents who like a guy who can hunt, fix a car, and speak the language that the Republicans had hoped JD Vance would be.

Are the Republicans going to try and paint him as a radical liberal? Yes, yes they are. But the reason why he’s so good is because he sells progressive policies as the most sensible policies for people in the city and in rural areas. He also has a bit of a libertarian streak that moderates will appreciate.
