Yesterday over on HLN (formerly Headline News, the CNN’s sister network), “Jon Hendren” — a “Edward Snowden” supporter — appeared via Skype to speak to reporter Yasmin Vossoughian about Snowden joining Twitter.
However, in a perfect display of what is perhaps wrong with television news media, Vossoughian is having a conversation with Hendren about Snowden while Hendren is having a conversation with Vossoughian about Edward Scissorhands. What might otherwise be a case of BaBaBoey-level douchebag trollery, however, is transformed into genius by the fact that the reporter apparently isn’t listening to a word that he’s saying. She just continues on with her line of questioning about Snowden, completely oblivious to what Hendren is saying,
Hendren: “To cast him out, to make him invalid to society simply because he has scissors for hands? That’s so strange. People didn’t get scared until he started sculpting shrubs into dinosaur shapes and what-not.”
Vossoughian: Now Snowden is living in Russia … listen, Russia has a lot of human rights violations.
Hendren: Yeah, casting him out is just completely wrong. We’re treating him like an animal, like someone who should be quarantined just because he was created on a mountain by Vincent Price.”
Hendren, who can be found on Twitter @fart, is sticking to his story:
in all sincerity i really did believe we were talking about Edward Scissorhands
