Update: Trump also said today that he would be nominating William Barr for Attorney General. He served as AG under President George H.W. Bush. I’m sure he’s not great, but I’m also sure he’s better than Matthew Whitaker.

CNN is reporting that John Kelly and Trump are no longer on speaking terms, and that John Kelly is expected to resign in the coming days. Trump is also actively pursuing a replacement. Nick Ayers — VP Pence’s chief of staff — is often mentioned for the role, but there is also speculation that others (including Kellyanne Conway) would resign if Ayers were chosen.

Meanwhile, Trump is flipping-the-f**k out on Twitter this morning — the usual screeds against the special counsel, 13 Angry Democrats, Witch Hunt, blah blah blah.

Today is expected to be a big day in that regard, too. Meuller will detail why Paul Manafort’s cooperation agreement broke down. Prosecutors in New York will also make a sentencing recommendation for Michael Cohen, who is expected to serve several years in prison not only for lying to Congress but for breaking campaign finance laws on Trump’s behalf.

Citing the page count is the new “Look at the size of my dick!”

I expect that the chaos will only be heightened with John Kelly on his way out the door.

Meanwhile, the economy added 155,000 jobs in November, which is fewer than expected. The trade war is threatening the health of the economy, and with the stock market tanking, some are predicting a 2020 recession. Meanwhile, the Democrats are preparing to take over in the House. The investigations are coming. Trump is running out of allies. His family members are facing possible indictments, and his election prospects in 2020 are dimming.
