Now Wait A Second: It's Too Early to Make Plans to Send Your Ashes to GOP Congressmen

Yesterday was a bad day. I’ll grant that. But like most things during the Trump Administration so far (save for the massive deportations), it was a bad day in a symbolic sense. Yes, the House of Representative got to claim a victory, as did Donald Trump, and a bunch of old white dudes got to drink Bud Light on the taxpayer dime and frolic in the White House Rose Garden.

But Donald Trump ain’t passed sh*t yet. In fact, when the Senate gets the bill from the House of Representatives, they’re going to throw it in the f**king trash and start all over. What they come up with might be very bad, but nothing will be as bad and malicious and evil and callous as what the House of Representatives passed.

And look: We still have a chance to stop this. We can make some noise. We can not only call our Representatives, but call them out as vocally and as often as possible. We can support candidates who run against them, or we can even become one of those candidates ourselves. This is a long ways from over, and even if a bill passes, it won’t be nearly as dastardly as the one that passed yesterday.

I hope.

All of which is to say: Please do not make plans already to send the cremated remains of your dead body to a GOP Congressman, which is a service that now exists (via Mediatite).

Millions of Americans rely on protections and coverage from the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare. The Republicans new bill will gut these protections and many will die.

They deserve to know it. Fill out our form and we’ll help you get papers in order to send your ashes to a GOP member of Congress if you pass.

When a person fills out the form, they’re given the option of disclosing why the AHCA could kill them. Some of those responses are available for viewing on the site, too, and include, “My combat tour in Iraq resulted in enough disability to make me uninsurable, but not enough to get all my healthcare through the VA. You killed me, you prick,” and, “because you took away my fucking insurance.”

That is morbid. And also, the AHCA hasn’t passed yet, so hang in there. We need you. Let’s first fight the AHCA before we make plans to send the ashes of our corpses to Paul Ryan. If the Senate bangs another bill through, and the House and Trump sign it, sure: At that point, fill out your forms and pick your GOP representative. But for now, show up with your actual live body to a Town Hall and raise some hell.
