Hunter Biden will enter a plea to two misdemeanor counts of tax evasion today, after failing to file his taxes in 2017 and 2018. He has also agreed to probation for illegally possessing a firearm while being a drug user. He would be on probation for about two years. A federal judge still has to sign off on the plea agreement.
For those who didn’t know, drug abusers are not allowed to possess handguns, and if Republicans thought that Donald Trump was being selectively prosecuted (ha!), just how many people have actually been charged with this rarely used federal law (and Biden only owned the gun for two weeks). In either case, I’m sure that this will finally put all the conspiracies about Hunter Biden to rest, and the Republicans will turn their attention now to the things that really matter, like who is allowed to run in a track meet for 9-year-olds.
After a lengthy investigation by U.S. Attorney David Weiss, into the criminal activities of Hunter Biden, this is all that one of Trump’s own appointees could dig up: Two tax evasion misdemeanors and a rarely used gun charge that will be expunged from Hunter Biden’s record if he meets the terms of his probation.
In the meantime, another Trump appointee, Aileen M. Cannon, has set an aggressive schedule for the classified documents case against Donald Trump, scheduling the trial for as soon as August 14th (though it will likely be delayed). She clearly does not want to be seen as dragging her feet. Hopefully, she’ll shut down Trump’s delay tactics and the former President can be in prison by September. We can dream, can’t we?
