Saoirse Kennedy Hill, the granddaughter of the late Robert F. Kennedy, died of an apparent overdose yesterday at the age of 22. Man alive, that family.
Meanwhile, this is what Donald Trump had to say when he woke up this morning.
Really bad news! The Baltimore house of Elijah Cummings was robbed. Too bad!

There’s no point in an extended, profanity-fueled diatribe. The man has no shame. He is a garbage person. Let’s leave it at that.
Meanwhile, his trade war seems to be catching up with him. The Administration seems to be making little progress in negotiations with China, who seem to be content to ride this out until the election, although they are threatening retaliatory tariffs. Despite the “booming economy,” the fed cut interest rates yesterday in anticipation of a downswing arising out of the trade war. Tariffs on goods from China has already led to higher prices and layoffs, while Trump himself is using the Treasury coffers to keep farms afloat, although most of that money is going to only the biggest farms, meaning the small farmer — the people Trump pretends to care about the most — are suffering the most. Meanwhile, the trade war is also hurting tourism in the United States.
I try not to focus too much on soundbites from Trump rallies and gaggles with reporters as he’s getting on Air Force One, but my god, the level of stupid is staggering.
Trump offers an interesting historical interpretation of the fall of the Soviet Union: "Remember the Soviet Union? When it was all together. Before they decided, 'we have to call ourselves Russia.'" pic.twitter.com/Y5d0NJ8mhE

Yup. That’s exactly what happened, Trump. At least he’s more informed about the Warsaw Uprising in Poland (scratch that, he clearly has no idea what that is):
Completely beyond parody: Asked if he has a message for Poland on the anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, Trump says, "I have a lot of respect for Poland, and as you know the people of Poland like me. And I like them. And I'm going to be going to Poland fairly soon." pic.twitter.com/jGd0xNJIH4

— Elsewhere, another Texas Republican Congressman, Will Hurd — the only Black Republican in the House — has decided to retire. This is the third Congressional retirement in Texas in a number of weeks. If you want to understand why, here’s a Will Hurd quote from a few weeks ago:
6/ "I'm the only black in the Republican in the House of Representatives," Hurd said two weeks ago.

"If the Republican Party in Texas doesn't start looking like Texas, there won't be a Republican Party in Texas.
"And I think that goes for the rest of the country."
END
Hurd is one of the few Congressional Republicans who still remains that actually occasionally calls Trump out (he was also one of four Republicans in the House who voted to condemn Trump’s racist statements). He only won by a handful of votes in 2018 in a Hillary district, so things were not trending well for him. Like the last few remaining moderate Republicans, he was probably going to get squeezed anyway. There’s just no such thing as a moderate Republican anymore. Senator Tim Scott is the only Black Republican left in Congress.
Meanwhile, a Super Pac has raised $10 million in Texas to register Republicans, which is a sign that they are actually worried. Again, if Texas turns blue, it’s over for Presidential Republicans (which, again, is why someone should choose Julian Castro as their running mate).
Finally, for what it’s worth, a majority of House Democrats are now in favor of impeachment. Celebrating the robbery of a Black Congressman should hopefully push that number even higher.
