What kind of media landscape have we walked into where Donald Trump is congratulating Stephen Colbert for the ratings bump he gave the late-night host, while boycotting Fox News because they’re the only media outfit that dares to challenge the Republican candidate for President?
Wow! What a great night. Thank you to all of the viewers and congratulations to @StephenAtHome http://t.co/5rq2iMpHx6 @colbertlateshow

.@FoxNews has been treating me very unfairly & I have therefore decided that I won't be doing any more Fox shows for the foreseeable future.

Why would Trump swear off Fox News for the foreseeable future? Reportedly because Bill O’Reilly canceled a scheduled appearance by Trump on The O’Reilly Report because Trump has continued to take shots at Bill O’Reilly and Meghan Kelly for actually calling Trump on his bullshit. The cancellation was prompted by Trump tweeting that O’Reilly’s guests were all “Trump haters” and that Megyn Kelly “is the worst - all anti-Trump!”
What’s even more unfathomable is that O’Reilly cancelled a guaranteed ratings bump over the principle of it, while Colbert is celebrating his best ratings nights since his premiere because of Trump. Dogs and cats living together… mass hysteria.
This is not how it’s supposed to be. Colbert is not supposed to be the one treating Trump with kid gloves. Fox News is not supposed to be the one getting called out by the Republican frontrunner.
I don’t like the way this feels, you guys. I don’t like it one bit. It feels wrong. Sofia Vergara/Emma Watson GIF wrong.
