Good morning. Donald Trump is in the midst of another one of his furious tweetstorms. So far, he has threatened to cease all press briefings because we shouldn’t expect his aides to be able to tell the truth all the time, but also, he said this:
James Comey better hope that there are no "tapes" of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 12, 2017
That’s not good. That’s Nixonian bullying. That’s thuggish behavior. He’s publicly threatening the man he just fired. It also means that he probably thinks that Comey has the goods to leak on him.
This is crazy, and while I shouldn’t be surprised by it anymore, I’m still somehow surprised by it.

Wait. Is he recording tapes of himself in the WH?!?! https://t.co/GAyV908CRi— Katy Tur (@KatyTurNBC) May 12, 2017
Is the president implying that he recorded his conversation with the director of the FBI? https://t.co/SubwJ18WIA— Kaitlan Collins (@kaitlancollins) May 12, 2017
Almost makes you think this might get even uglier…. https://t.co/FxxElghIPb— Charlie Sykes (@SykesCharlie) May 12, 2017
The President of the United States just essentially threatened the former FBI chief who he just fired? https://t.co/H8c46dhb28— Steve Kopack (@SteveKopack) May 12, 2017
[pundit voice] This… is the moment Donald Trump became (the 37th) president of the United States. https://t.co/BIsb7YViBO— Parker Molloy (@ParkerMolloy) May 12, 2017
I am extremely not Richard Nixon.— Rob Flaherty (@Rob_Flaherty) May 12, 2017
Also: I might record all of my conversations.https://t.co/x0In0GH9A6

When the president of the United States issues hoodlum threats like he's a snivelling mafia mobster played by Paul Sorvino. pic.twitter.com/8UTJPODsQs— Caspar Salmon (@CasparSalmon) May 12, 2017
So is everyone okay with the sociopathic schoolyard bully currently taking up space in the White House? https://t.co/Qlr1bvPYiL— *IAM*NotTheOne (@thegeehen) May 12, 2017
Publicly threatening the FBI chief he dismissed for investigating him. Trump's presidency is about to end. https://t.co/x2gbwGimJJ— Keith Olbermann (@KeithOlbermann) May 12, 2017
At some point, the Republicans are going to have to bail, right? Otherwise, they’re all going to be spending the next four years answering questions about Donald Trump’s tweets and defending themselves at angry town halls.
