Donald Trump Is Having Another Bad Day

Last week, Donald Trump’s campaign may have suffered the most catastrophic 48 hours in the history of Presidential general election campaigns, as he repeatedly stuck his sexist foot into his racist mouth. There’s entirely too much to revisit, but many of those comments are now coming home to roost in the polls, where Clinton has basically opened up a double-digit lead in spite of a few gaffes of her own, which have been mostly obscured by Donald Trump’s headline-making abilities. That may have been a boon to him in the primaries, but the only thing likely to help Donald Trump between now and election day is if he can learn to shut up and pray that Hillary’s campaign succumbs to a three-month long bad news cycle.

CNN’s poll of polls now has Clinton up by 10, Real Clear Politics average of poll has Clinton up by 7, Monmouth has Clinton up by 12, and Nate Silver gives Clinton an 86.5 percent chance of winning.

Meanwhile, the GOP defections continue to mount. Fifty high-level GOP officials — mostly involved with national security — signed a letter declaring that Trump “lacks the character, values and experience” to be president and “would put at risk our country’s national security and well-being.” The GOP officials include a former CIA director, a director of national intelligence, two deputy Secretaries of State, and several other members of the Bush administration (including many on Condoleezza Rice’s team).

The Florida Republican Party spokesman, who is Latino, is also quitting over Donald Trump because he can no longer defend the party that supports Trump.

Meanwhile, there’s more evidence that Trump is improperly using his charitable foundation to fund his political campaign, and The Washington Post is reporting that Trump once accepted applause for donating $20 million to a Children’s Hospital, only he never actually donated $20 million. That didn’t stop him from taking the media to task for not promoting his charity work.

After unveiling his all-white male team of economic advisors — few of which have any actual knowledge of economics — Trump also gave a speech laying out his economic plan earlier today. The speech, which was one of those boring teleprompter speeches, was mostly word salad that talked about lowering taxes for the wealthy and getting rid of the death tax, and even if there was substance to it, it’d be overshadowed by the fact that Trump inadvertently used the word “titties” and he attempted to court Bernie voters in Detroit, where Hillary handily defeated Sanders.

That speech was also apparently interrupted by protesters at least 20 times, including by one protester who shouted “TINY HANDS.”

Just how bad is it for Trump? Hillary Clinton’s unfavorable ratings are terrible, but they’re now 18 points better than Donald Trump’s unfavorables.

But you just keep mouth-earping on Twitter, Trump.
