Donald Trump is Extra Unhinged This Morning on Twitter

After a series of anti-immigrant tweets that revealed Trump’s complete ignorance of the law, Trump returned to another major source of frustration this morning, Amazon.

And if you are wondering why Trump keeps attacking Amazon, the reasons are twofold: 1) It’s owned by Jeff Bezos, who also owns The Washington Post, a newspaper that is often critical of Trump, and by that, I mean: It’s honest about Trump. In reality, there’s a firewall between Amazon and the WashPo, and Amazon has actually contributed to the profitability of the USPS’s parcel service, although it might be fair to say that the USPS could be more profitable if it struck a better deal with Amazon. That is complicated because the USPS faces competition from the likes of UPS and FedEx, which I suppose could undercut the USPS if it raised its prices, which might endanger the largest federal employer in the country.

But Trump also has another bug up his ass about Amazon, and it has less to do with politics, and more to do with his own bottom line. Forbes magazine estimates that Trump lost $400 million of his personal fortune in 2007 because the retail space he owns in NYC lost value because consumers prefer Amazon over brick-and-mortar stores.

Speaking of publications that are not honest about Trump, a lot of outlets (including John Oliver and MSNBC) are criticizing Sinclair Broadcasting this morning for basically being Trump propaganda — as evidenced here — and Trump is hitting back.

As for this tweet?

I’m not sure to what he is referring here (I’m sure it was inspired by a Fox News segment), but it is clear that he continues to attack the DOJ and Jeff Sessions, and yet, Sessions remains the one guy that Trump won’t fire. Huh.

A lot of Trump’s furious tweeting morning may have to do with the fact that he apparently invited Vladimir Putin to the White House, and he may be trying to draw attention away from that. Obviously, Trump and Putin need to get together to discuss the midterms, right? We should note, too, that we learned from Russian media — not our own — about the invitation that Trump extended to Putin.

Finally, I give you Donald Trump, bragging about America’s economy and military dominance to a crowd of children while being flanked by a non-plussed Melania Trump and the Easter Bunny. Ain’t that America.
