Donald Trump Accuses Puerto Rico of Being Lazy, Is Golfing, Can F*ck Himself Sideways with a Hair Brush

From movies, books and television, we were raised to believe evil was scary. That it was bloody and sneaky and powerful. What we have learned from the Donald Trump presidency is that this is not the case. Evil is also small and painfully annoying and petty, that it is the effects and implications of that evil, not the perpetrator of that evil itself necessarily, that are terrifying. The devil is not a looming figure from our nightmares—it’s a festering itchy infected blister that desperately needs to be lanced, but for some reason hasn’t been in nine months.

Puerto Rico is in peril. Its conditions are apocalyptic. The streets are filled with sewage and its people have no clean drinking water. Carmen Yulín Cruz, the mayor of San Juan, has been the most public face of the island, begging for aid and met continually with crickets and bluster, even as Team Trump praises themselves, proclaiming it “a good news story.”

Well, maybe from where she’s standing it’s a good news story. When you’re drinking from a creek, it’s not a good news story. When you don’t have food for a baby, it’s not a good news story. When you have to pull people down from their buildings, because — I’m sorry, but that really upsets me and frustrates me.

I would ask her to come down here and visit the towns and then make a statement like that, which frankly, it is an irresponsible statement. And it contrasts with the statements of support that I have been getting since yesterday when I got that call from the White House.

This is, dammit, this is not a good news story. This is a ‘people are dying’ story. This is a ‘life or death’ story. This is ‘there’s a truckload of stuff that cannot be taken to people’ story. This is a story of a devastation that continues to worsen.

Donald Trump, who went golfing while Puerto Rico was ravaged, and who is golfing again today, took to Twitter to attack not only Cruz but the entire population of Puerto Rico for “want[ing] everything to be done for them when it should be a community effort.”

The Mayor of San Juan, who was very complimentary only a few days ago, has now been told by the Democrats that you must be nasty to Trump.

…Such poor leadership ability by the Mayor of San Juan, and others in Puerto Rico, who are not able to get their workers to help. They….

…want everything to be done for them when it should be a community effort. 10,000 Federal workers now on Island doing a fantastic job.

And then, much like with the NFL players taking a knee in support of Black Lives Matter and to combat racism and police brutality, Trump started spinning things as “brown people vs. the military.”

The military and first responders, despite no electric, roads, phones etc., have done an amazing job. Puerto Rico was totally destroyed.

Fake News CNN and NBC are going out of their way to disparage our great First Responders as a way to "get Trump." Not fair to FR or effort!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 30, 2017

The Fake News Networks are working overtime in Puerto Rico doing their best to take the spirit away from our soldiers and first R's. Shame!

There is a feeling that comes with each weekend’s latest batch of Trump tweets, this sour sick that envelopes your whole body. If you have the means, please take that feeling and do good with it. Speak up, get loud, and donate if you can.
