What is this? WHAT IS THIS?
Trump invited "permanently separated" families on stage to share stories of loved ones being tortured and killed by undocumented immigrants. pic.twitter.com/DSZH6gRFhT

You win, Trump! Congratulations! You’ve found examples of events even more terrible than the terrible humanitarian crisis that YOU created. Is he just trying to one-up himself? This is the sickest form of whataboutism I have ever seen displayed. And yet, it somehow gets worse.
Holy shit Trump appears to have autographed the big photos of each dead kid. pic.twitter.com/YhAK7SmaqF

Is he trying to say, “What I did was terrible, but things could be worse, and at least I’m helping these nice people by autographing pictures of their dead children?” WHAT ARE YOU DOING? Trump is ghoulishly taking advantage of the grief of those families to score cheap political points. That is so unbelievably FUCKED. As Tori notes, American citizens also commit horrendous crimes against other citizens. Where’s their rally? The issue isn’t that crime happens — the issue is that THE GOVERNMENT IS LOCKING KIDS IN FUCKING CAGES
After this morning’s post, I really wanted to go the entire day without contributing more to the hate and toxicity, but this is ungodly. It’s inexcusable. It may be one of the most profoundly, remarkably low points in the history of American politics.
