Goyagate continues on for yeet another day. A couple of days after Ivanka Trump went all Price is Right on a can of Goya beans, which she held as it were a rare and exotic food (because, to her, it is), Donald Trump decided to line up some Goya products on his desk and break the Hatch Act (again).

Honestly, I don’t have anything else to add to this other than what Chris Cuomo has to say about it.

That sums it up.

However, so that this doesn’t become the distraction that Trump wants it to be, allow me to use this space to remind you that yesterday had the second most daily infections ever for the U.S. with 67,300. Deaths are up 50 percent over the last two weeks; Governor Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma, who attended the Tulsa rally, has tested positive for the virus; a number of large school districts (including Houston, Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco) have already ruled out returning students to classrooms when school resumes; and we are about two weeks away from a lot of the pandemic funding running out, potentially sending the economy into another tailspin long before it had a chance to recover from the first shutdown.

But Trump’s got Goya beans on his mind. Quick: Someone ask him how much a can of black beans costs!
